A Q&A with Rustic Revival our Mornington Peninsular retailer

How long have you been painting?
I have been painting furniture for around 15 years.
What inspired you to paint and relove furniture?
I’m an avid environmentalist and it was my mission to create individual, one off pieces to decorate my home, while stepping lightly on Mother Earth. Keeping pieces of our Australian history out of landfill was another driving force. Why buy new, when vintage is so much better??
Do you have a particular style?
Regarding style, I go by what the furniture is saying. Different eras of furniture require different styles and techniques. If I had to pick a favourite style, then rustic industrial would be my number one choice. I’m a rust nut 🤣
Biggest painting disaster??
Ummmmm...I seriously have had plenty! But I work them to my advantage. With every disaster comes knowledge. I learn as I go.
No such thing as a painting disaster, you can always fix a boo boo!
Why did you decide to stock L'essentiel?
I stock L’Essentiel because it is the best. Eco certified, Australian made and owned, L’Essentiel is an incredibly ethical company, which has been created by an amazing woman, whom I greatly admire.
The paints and finishes are brilliant to use, the range is extensive, which means there is a product for every technique I can think of.
The colour palette is on point and mixing my own custom colours is always an easy task.
I absolutely love this product.
Biggest paint tip as a painter?
Preparation and good quality products will give you a great result.
Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone, you are only limited to your imagination.
